A little like the Adamo XPS, the V13 is slimline, as thin as 16.5mm in places and weighs in at around 1.6kg. The Vostro V13 is designed to bring the lessons the company learned from its experience making the Adamo XPS – with its angled, wedge design, to a more businesslike form factor.
Although just as slim as the Adamo XPS, the new Vostro V13 is designed for the budget conscious with the cost significantly less than that of either the Adamo XPS or the MacBook Air, which kickstarted the current trend in ultra-thin laptops.
With an aluminium finish and reinforced zinc hinges, the V13 gets a choice of Intel processors, runs Windows 7, can take up to 4GB RAM, a minimum 250GB hard drive and a 6-cell battery. V13 also has a decent number of ports. Unlike the MacBook Air, which features only a single USB 2.0 port, the V13 will come with an eSATA port for connecting external storage directly to the SATA bus, a wired Ethernet port, USB 2.0, and a VGA output. It also comes with integrated webcam, Bluetooth, WiFi, and optional mobile broadband built in.
